Abstract

Innovation stands out as a critical factor for the success and competitiveness of organizations in emerging countries, enabling them to overcome structural challenges and compete effectively in the global marketplace. This process not only improves internal efficiency and productivity, but also offers differentiation in a highly competitive environment. A document review was carried out to identify the role of innovation as a competitiveness factor for organizations in emerging countries. The findings indicate that there are significant obstacles on the road to innovation, such as limited access to financing, insufficient technological infrastructure and a shortage of qualified talent. Despite these challenges, open innovation strategies, strategic alliances between the private and academic sectors, and leveraging supportive public policies emerge as effective solutions. A robust innovation ecosystem, backed by a culture of sustainability and enabling public policies, is essential to nurture and maintain innovation as a pillar of competitiveness. This collaborative approach not only enables organizations in emerging countries to overcome barriers and seize opportunities for growth, but also contributes to overall economic development and social well-being.
